WHY WE EXIST

It Began With A Truckload of Rotten Food

On October 27, 2022, our founder James Ojo visited a charity centre in his community and found a truck at the gates offloading donated produce, more than half of it rotting, while the children in their care went underfed.

In that moment he understood something that would change his life: vulnerable people are too often given scraps, not just scraps of food, but of opportunity, education, mentorship, and hope. What restores dignity and lasts a lifetime is something else entirely: skills, mindset, confidence, and connection.

From that moment James set about founding the Destiny Connect Foundation - formally registered as a South African non-profit organisation in 2024 (Reg No 309-503 NPO).

The mission: to build a collaborative, inclusive global community that unlocks human potential and improves the quality of life for people worldwide.
The values: every person has inherent dignity and worth, and everyone deserves the opportunity, skills, and support to realise their full potential.

Everything we do is built on three principles: Inclusion, Empowerment, and Sustainability.

THE PAINFUL REALITY

A human potential crisis is unfolding in workplaces worldwide

Education systems focus on technical knowledge, while employers increasingly seek communication, collaboration, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and confident leadership.

These critical human skills are too often overlooked. The evidence is stark: in a 2025 study of 800 HR leaders and 800 recent graduates, 77% say they learned more in their first six months on the job than in their entire four-year education, and 85% wish their college had better prepared them for the workplace.

The consequences reach far beyond unemployment. They erode confidence, mental well-being, economic mobility, and long-term social growth.
